
SPP12 will take place in the Swisstech Convention Centre, situated on the edge of the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (EPFL) campus, adjacent to the metro station (14 min from downtown Lausanne, every 4 to 8 min) and next to the Swisstech Village shopping center.
Lausanne is well-connected by train to many European cities: Milano (3.5 hours), Paris (4 hours), Marseille (5 hours) Frankfurt (5.5 hours), Brussels (6 hours), London (7.5 hours), Vienna (10.5 hours), Berlin (11 hours), Hamburg (12 hours), Madrid (13 hours). Lausanne is a short train ride (40 min.) from Geneva airport, which is a major Easyjet hub with over 70 budget destinations, as well as 51 other airlines with direct flights from China, Canada and USA. The next airport is Zurich, which is 2.5 hours by train from Lausanne.
Reaching the campus
The EPFL campus is connected to the city by the M1 Subway, which has two end stations: Flon in dowtown Lausanne, or Renens. Flon is a short subway train ride away (M2 line, 1 stop) from Lausanne railway station; Renens is another major stop on many train lines from Geneva airport, Zurich and Bern.
To find when is the next connexion to the EPFL campus, you can use the Swiss Railway Website and use “Ecublens VD, EPFL” as destination. To get the schedule form downtown Lausanne use “Lausanne, Flon” as starting point.
Note that every hotel in Lausanne should provide you with a free public transport ticket for the duration of your stay.
